A couple weeks ago Ric's office had a party for the children in the group with face painting, crafts, cookies, and lots of yummy breakfast food. The kids had a blast.
And then Santa showed up and each child got to sit on his lap and tell him whether or not they'd been good this year. Santa actually had a REALLY, REALLY long chat with each child. Ethan and Alex told him that they "sometimes" (all the time) fight, but that they'd try to be good. When Santa asked what they were going to get their mother for Christmas, he got blank stares (uh-oh).
This present was for both of them to share which, when we got home, led mostly to tears and unhappiness. After Ric helped them navigate (for the 1,000th time) the nuances of sharing, taking turns, being considerate, giving a little, and a sense of fairness, they built a really cool lego set and played for hours.
This little girl also got a long talk from Santa. When he asked her if her brothers were nice to her, she replied, "sometimes." Here he is asking her if she wanted him to take Ethan and Alex's present back? She was sweet and said "no."
Boy those boys are lucky.

I just heard someone say parenting is like Groundhog Day. Every day ☺ Did Santa give Evelyn anything?
Yes, for the record, Evelyn got a big box of playdough. But since I can't find all the really cool tools we have to use with the playdough, her gift turned out to be a pretty lousy one. Maybe next week, sweetheart.
Haha. Gotcha. Bummer for Evelyn.
Let her pull everything she wants out of your kitchen to use, it'll be fun! ☺ You'll have colorful decoration in all the nooks and crannies of your utensils. Yummy.
It's AMAZING how much Alex looks like Ric these days! Wow. They're really growing up.
